Terms of Service
What SEO Intel is
SEO Intel ("we", "us") is a digital service operated from the United Kingdom, accessed at seo-intel.co.uk. We provide three things:
- The free store audit. A whole-store scan that checks your Shopify storefront for Google Merchant Center compliance issues and gives it an AI Readiness Score, returning categorised findings with verbatim source quotes and verbatim policy citations. It is free and needs no account.
- The SEO Intel Skills Pack. A one-time digital download (a set of Claude skills plus a connection guide) that you run in your own Claude environment against your own Shopify store. Sold at £14.99 through Gumroad.
- The playbooks. Written guides on diagnosing and recovering Google Merchant Center suspensions and improving AI visibility. These are currently free during an open beta.
Use of the service constitutes acceptance of these terms. If you do not accept these terms, do not use the service.
How the service works
You access the free audit through your web browser. There is no account system. To limit abuse, audits are rate-limited by connection (IP address) and, where you provide one, by email address. The Skills Pack is delivered by Gumroad as a digital download after purchase. The playbooks are delivered as web pages and, where offered, downloadable files.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the audit on stores you do not own or do not have explicit permission to audit. Auditing a competitor's store without authorisation may breach their terms of service and is not what this tool is for.
- Attempt to circumvent the audit rate limits or the anti-bot checks.
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or build a competing service from our outputs.
- Resell, republish, or pass off the audit findings, the Skills Pack, or the playbook content as your own work product.
Audit findings and downloads are licensed for your own use. You may share findings internally and with your professional advisors.
AI output disclaimer
The audit and the skills use a large language model. Outputs may contain inaccuracies and must be reviewed by you before you act on them, publish them, or use them commercially. We make no warranty that outputs are factually correct, free from third-party infringement, or that acting on them will result in reinstatement by Google or any ranking in any search engine. The audit is diagnostic information drawn from publicly observable evidence. Whether Google reinstates an account is between you and Google.
Service availability
The service is provided "as is". We may suspend, modify or discontinue any part of the service at any time. We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from your use of the service is limited to the total amount you have paid us in the preceding 12 months. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or special damages including lost profits or lost data.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent version. Continued use of the service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
Privacy Policy
Who we are
SEO Intel is operated by Daryn Potgieter, an independent sole trader registered in the United Kingdom. For data-protection purposes the controller is Daryn Potgieter, contactable at hello@seo-intel.co.uk.
What we collect
We collect the minimum necessary data to provide the service:
- Connection identifier (IP address): used as a tokenless identifier to rate-limit the free audit. Stored in Cloudflare KV with a 30-day TTL, then auto-deleted.
- Audit submission data: the store URL you submit and, if you provide it, your email address. Used to run and deliver your audit. Stored against the audit ID in Cloudflare KV for 90 days, after which the audit record and its result URL auto-delete. If you provide an email, we store a one-way hash of it for up to 7 days purely to rate-limit repeat audits; if you ask us to email your result, your address is used once to send that link.
- Audit crawled content: public page snippets from the store URL you submit, stored against the audit ID for 90 days so the result can be re-displayed without re-crawling. Auto-deleted with the audit record.
- Mailing list (only if you opt in): if you tick the box on the audit form, we keep your email address and a record of when and how you agreed, and add you to our mailing list for occasional GMC and AI visibility tips. The box is never pre-ticked. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us to remove you at hello@seo-intel.co.uk.
- Contact form submissions: email and message content. Stored for 12 months for support follow-up.
- Purchase data: when you buy the Skills Pack, the purchase is processed and recorded by Gumroad, who act as merchant of record. We receive the order and your email from Gumroad to deliver the download and provide support. We never see or store your card details.
- Analytics data: Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymisation. See the cookie policy below.
Lawful basis
- Performance of contract: to provide the service you have requested.
- Legitimate interest: for analytics, abuse prevention, and service improvement, balanced against your rights.
- Consent: for non-essential cookies, where applicable, and for the mailing list if you opt in. You can withdraw consent at any time.
Who we share data with
- Anthropic (USA): our AI processor. Audit content is sent to Claude via the Anthropic API. Anthropic processes data under their published policies.
- Cloudflare (USA): our infrastructure provider for the API worker and KV storage.
- Gumroad (USA): merchant of record for the Skills Pack. Gumroad handles checkout, payment, sales tax/VAT, and download delivery under their published policies. We never see your card details.
- Stripe (Ireland/USA): where a playbook is offered as a paid product, checkout is handled by a Stripe payment link. During the current free beta no charge is taken. When a charge does apply, Stripe processes the payment under their published policies and we never see your card details.
- Resend (USA): delivers your audit result link by email if you request it, and holds the mailing list and sends our tips emails if you opt in.
- Google Analytics (USA): traffic analytics with IP anonymisation enabled.
- Netlify (USA): our static frontend host.
Where data is transferred outside the UK/EEA, transfers are made under Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards.
How long we keep data
- Audit connection (IP) rate-limit records: 30 days from last use, then auto-deleted.
- Audit email rate-limit hash: up to 7 days, then auto-deleted.
- Audit records (submission data, crawled content, generated result): 90 days from creation, then auto-deleted.
- Mailing list: until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you. The record of your consent is kept for as long as you are on the list so we can show you agreed.
- Contact form submissions: 12 months, then deleted.
- Purchase records: retained by Gumroad (and, for any paid playbook, Stripe) per their retention policies, and by us for 7 years for UK tax compliance (HMRC requirement).
- Analytics data: 14 months in Google Analytics, then auto-deleted.
Your rights under UK GDPR
You have the right to access, correct, delete (subject to lawful retention), object to processing, request portability, and withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, email hello@seo-intel.co.uk. We respond within 30 days.
Complaints
If you are not satisfied with our handling of your data, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK supervisory authority. Contact: ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113.
Cookie Policy
What we use
We use a deliberately minimal set of cookies and similar technologies:
- Essential: a small browser-storage entry to remember your dark/light mode preference. This is not shared with us.
- Consent record: a small browser-storage entry (
cookie_consent_v1) that remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics cookies, so we do not ask on every page.
- Analytics (only if you accept): Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymisation, which sets cookies prefixed
_ga and _ga_* to measure aggregate traffic, and Microsoft Clarity, which sets cookies such as _clck and _clsk to show how pages are used (clicks, scrolling). No personal profiling and no advertising use.
- Cookie-free statistics: Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page views without setting cookies or storing anything on your device.
Third-party cookies
If you proceed to buy the Skills Pack on Gumroad, or to a Stripe payment link for a paid playbook, that checkout page sets its own cookies, governed by Gumroad's or Stripe's cookie policy. These load only when you go to checkout, not on our pages.
Managing cookies
When you first visit, a banner asks whether you accept analytics cookies. Nothing is set unless you choose Accept. You can change your choice at any time using the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page; if you reject, we remove the analytics cookies already set. You can also block cookies in your browser settings. Rejecting them does not affect your ability to use SEO Intel.
Refund Policy
The free audit
The audit is free. There is nothing to pay and nothing to refund.
The Skills Pack (£14.99, via Gumroad)
The Skills Pack is a digital download sold through Gumroad, who act as merchant of record and process refunds. Under the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 (regulation 37), the right to cancel a digital download ends once the download has begun, provided you have given express consent, which you do at checkout. That means once you have downloaded the pack we are not obliged to refund it.
That said, we stand behind it. If the download fails, is corrupt, or is not as described, we will make it right. Request a refund within 14 days of purchase, before downloading, through Gumroad's refund process or by emailing hello@seo-intel.co.uk with your Gumroad receipt or the email address used at purchase. We respond within 48 hours.
The playbooks
The playbooks are currently free during an open beta, so there is nothing to refund. If a playbook later becomes a paid product through a Stripe payment link, this section will be updated with its refund terms before any charge is taken.
